Directions

  1. Cut strawberries into small pieces and drop into the bottom of the glass. Mash with a muddler or wooden spoon handle. The more you mash, the more juice will be released for a sweeter and redder drink. If you prefer smaller chunks of strawberry in your drink, muddle until it’s more like a puree.
  2. Fill the glass with ice. Pour strawberry simple syrup and lemon juice over ice. Top off with seltzer or club soda, depending on your preference. Gently stir to combine. Add desired garnishes to this delicious strawberry beverage and serve immediately.

FAQs

Have questions about making the perfect strawberry mocktail? This FAQ section covers everything you need to know, from tools and storage tips to creative ingredient swaps and flavor tweaks!

How do I store this strawberry mocktail recipe?

  • This recipe does not hold up in storage. Serve immediately!
  • For easier recipe assembly during an event, prep all the parts individually beforehand and store in separate airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

What changes could I make to this recipe?

  1. Strawberries can be replaced by any other berry.
  2. If you don’t like the strawberry chunks in your drink, toss them into a blender to make a smooth puree.
  3. This recipe is prepared for a flavor on the sweet side. If you prefer a bit more sour flavor, lower the strawberry simple syrup to 1 ounce and increase the lemon juice to a full lemon.
  4. The tart lemon really gives this mocktail its cocktail feel. It is not recommended that you use bottled lemon juice as it can have a higher acidic mouth feel than fresh lemon juice.
  5. You can replace the lemon juice with sours mix if that’s what you have on hand.
  6. For a mocktail that tastes more like a non-alcoholic strawberry mojito, muddle a couple of mint leaves with the strawberries in step 1.

What if I don’t have Strawberry Simple Syrup?

No worries. You have lots of options.

  1. You can try making your own by simmering fresh strawberries, sugar, and water until thickened—there are plenty of easy recipes online to guide you.
  2. If you’re short on time, store-bought strawberry syrup is a convenient option and can be found in most grocery stores or online.
  3. Prefer a natural or lower-calorie substitute? Swap it out with honey, stevia, or even agave syrup to taste. With these alternatives, you’ll still achieve that sweet and fruity flavor in your drink!
